On December 15, in the frame of the Bringing Together project the final online session for Russian participants of the Investment Mentors School pilot group was held. The event moderated by Ludmila Karelina, Project Manager, vice-president of the SPbCCI.

During the session, the course authors highlighted the key issues of their lectures and shared relevant information that was not included in the lesson program. At the end of their speeches, the speakers answered the questions from participants.

The participants of the course noted the practical benefits received from the training and thanked the authors of the lectures and the developers of the Investment Mentors School. The training of the pilot group started on November 15. Successful completion of tests on each topic is completed by obtaining certificates of completion of the course “Management and acceleration of investment projects in the border regions of Russia and Finland”.

On December 10, the on-line video Training Course Pilot Session «Business Mentoring for Finnish-Russian Projects» was held in Helsinki in the frame of the Bringing Together project. The event was attended by Finnish business experts and consultants for the Russian market.

Ludmila Karelina, Project Manager, vice-president of the SPbCCI, welcomed the participants. Yana Tkachenko, Local Project Manager (Eurofacts Oy), gave a detailed presentation of the Investment Mentors Training course, focusing on potentially the most interesting topics for Finnish target groups. At the end of the event, the project partners answered the questions of the participants. Participants were invited to register on the platform, complete training and give feedback about the Training Course.

On December 8-9, the XIX Forum of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of St. Petersburg was held, organized by the Public Council for the Development of Small Entrepreneurship under the Governor of St. Petersburg, the operator is the Fund for the Development of SMEs in St. Petersburg.

On the second day of the Forum, a round table was held on the topic: “Acceleration programs in business support infrastructure and the potential for international cooperation”, moderated by Ludmila Karelina, leader of the Bringing Together project, vice-president of the SPbCCI.

At the end of the round table, the speakers discussed proposals to be included in the resolution. These included promoting the development of an ecosystem of interaction between Russian and international acceleration programs and SMEs, including further development of digital transformation of acceleration programs, etc.

Joint Monitoring Committee and the Programming Committee closed their work for 2021

Both meetings were held this week, side-by-side with the 3rd Annual Event of the Programme, and such a combination marks an important milestone summing up the past year.

The Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 Programme had its thirteenth meeting on 9 December 2021, online. The Committee received information and discussed the progress of the Programme, the state of play in projects’ implementation, results of the first finalized projects, communication and visibility actions and the first draft of the MA’s Annual Report (reporting period 7/2020-6/2021). The JMC approved updates to the Programme Manual to reflect the changes made to the Joint Operational Programme at the end of 2020. The updated Manual will be published on the Programme’s website in January 2022, at the latest. In addition, the meeting had an overview of the programming period 2021-2027 preparations. The next JMC meeting is foreseen in June 2022.

On 10 December 2021, the seventh meeting of the Programming Committee (PC) of the South-East Finland – Russia 2021-2027 Programme was informed about the state of play in regulative and legal processes, financial allocations to the 2021-2027 Programme and preparation of the Financing Agreement. Indicative financial envelope will top-up the 2014-2020 Programme, which is very positive indicator to increase and widen the level of Cross-Border Cooperation in the Programme area. The PC discussed the future Programme’s name and took a note of the Interreg branding work. The updated draft of the Programme documents and complemented LIP (Large Infrastructure Projects) proposals were among the topical issues at the meeting. Overall, the preparation process is advancing well, and the next important steps during January-March 2022 will be finalization of the Programme documents and their submission for the national approvals in Finland and in Russia.

The Green InterTraffic project was presented at the Third Annual event of the South-East Finland – Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020

On December 8, the third Annual event of the South-East Finland – Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020 was held. The main objective of these annual gatherings of Programme’s beneficiaries and stakeholders is to promote achievements of the funded projects and to demonstrate the value of cross-border cooperation. The lead partners of the first five completed projects shared the results and their experience of cross-border cooperation.

The Project Manager of the Bringing Together project, vice president of the SPbCCI Ludmila Karelina presented the Green InterTraffic project, which she led during its implementation from December 2018 to March 2021. Saint-Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry was a lead partner. The project partners: Saint-Petersburg State University, Finnish Meteorological Institute, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Institute of Radar Meteorology, Transport Integration Ltd.

Project Leader Ludmila Karelina took part in a business brunch within the framework of the Finnish Business Forum

On December 2, the 10th Finnish Business Forum was held in St. Petersburg, organized by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce. Within the framework of the forum, the Finnish investment agency Invest in Finland held a business brunch for representatives of Russian companies interested in localization of business in Finland.

The event was attended by the Ludmila Karelina, Project Leader of the Bringing Together project, vice president of the SPbCCI. The business program of the brunch included a speech by Olga Makeeva, Senior Adviser of Business Finland in St. Petersburg, “Invest in Finland 2021: Results of the year and new opportunities-2022”.

The project develops cooperation with Business Finland and considers it as a potential partner of the project and the Bringing Together platform. At the end of the event, negotiations were also held with representatives of companies – potential users of the Platform.

The Bringing Together project and the Corporate Accelerator of JSC «Russian Railways» will develop cooperation within the framework of the concluded Agreement

The Saint- Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the lead partner of the Bringing Together project, and the Railway Research Institute VNIIZHT signed the Cooperation Agreement.

The Agreement was signed with the aim of developing cooperation in the field of work with innovative projects on the basis of the Corporate Accelerator of JSC «Russian Railways» for the implementation of such areas as assessment of the potential and possible areas of the development of startup – projects in Corporate Accelerations Programs of JSC “Russian Railways” (CAP) and support in the implementation of pilot implementation of solutions of the participants of the CAP and its scaling.

Special attention in the Agreement is paid to the interaction of the Corporate Accelerator of JSC “Russian Railways” and the Bringing Together project. In addition, next year it is planned to organize the Russian-Finnish Railway Transport Session.

South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 Programme continues its Annual Event -concept by organising third event on 8.12.2021, at 12:00-16:00 (EET/Helsinki), online by using Zoom.

The main objective of these annual gatherings of Programme’s beneficiaries and stakeholders is to promote achievements of the funded projects and to demonstrate the value of cooperation. Events are also a good opportunity for the local and regional decision-makers, media and wide audience to get familiar with the information of the projects and benefits of Finnish-Russian cooperation.

Event programme

This year, we start our half day event by introducing the performance of the ongoing CBC 2014-2020 Programme and the 2021-2027 preparations, and next steps forward. After this, the Programme’s financing stakeholders take the floor.

After the break, lead partners of the first five completed projects will share their results and experiences of the cross-border cooperation with time for questions & answers. From here we move forward and close the day with much anticipated information of the Good Communication Award winners 2021.

Bringing Together Project Steering Committee Meeting was held

On November 23, the Project Steering Committee Meeting of the Bringing Together project was held. Dr. Ludmila Karelina, Project Leader, vice-president of the SPbCCI, made the presentation about the Project, the Digital platform and the Investment Mentors School. She informed about the results achieved, about the events in Russia and Finland at which the project was presented, the planned events. Dr. Ludmila Karelina also presented the video about the project, in which the platform’s services are covered in detail.

Anna Isakova, Director of the SPb State Company “Investment Management” noted the project in progress and expressed readiness to inform investors about the platform. Eini Arponen, Project coordinator of the South-East Finland – Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020, confirmed that the project is actively developing and noted to pay more attention to the involvement of Finnish participants.
