Attending INCROBB’s event is always a good idea!

INCROBB project press release

21st April 2021 the round table “Expert Search Engine for Russian and Finnish Companies” organized by INCROBB (inclusive cross-border business networking of tomorrow) took place. Ideas connected with seeking and employing experts from abroad were shared among participants. For instance, the Internet is seen as a core channel of experts’ engagement; thus, establishment of an open online database for freelancers is intended to be designed.
Unlike existing databases, the planned one is going to be locally (yet, internationally) concentrated which enhances possibility of a successful company-expert match. Partners from Polytech University highlighted that INCROBB stepped its second phase – the creation of involvement engine.

Further, the unemployment issues in Russia and Finland were discussed; hiring urgency was stated. The discussion was followed by legal aspects clarification. As the formal part ended, participants from multiple industries expressed an aspiration to collaborate.

How to prepare St. Petersburg’s wastewater system for a changing climate?

RAINMAN project press release

As part of the RAINMAN Project, SUE “Vodokanal of St.Petersburg” together with other project partners identified conditions that can cause flooding of the wastewater disposal system. The performance of the system has been assessed in four typical development zones: new construction, green areas, existing and historical built-up environment.

With the help of hydraulic modelling, the partners developed recommendations to adapt the system to increased rainfall and to improve urban environment. The suitability of the recommended measurements was assessed. The work resulted and a list of engineering solutions to reduce flooding of the wastewater disposal system.

A summary of results is available at the webpage of SUE “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg”.

The Geological Survey of Finland studied the groundwater – surface water interaction in the Hanhilampi aquifer, Mikkeli

RAINMAN project press release

The Geological Survey of Finland studied the water composition at the waterworks in Mikkeli. 45 % of the water is surface water from the Hanhilampi pond. The amount of surface water varies between 35 and 55 % during the year. Water from the Likolampi pond does not end up to the waterworks. The situation may still change though at the increase of pumping rate and changes in the height of the Hanhilampi pond dam. Results will be used in the update of the Hanhikangas groundwater flow model and protection plan.

The groundwater-surface water interaction was studied with stable isotope method in the Hanhikangas aquifer in Mikkeli. The project was implemented in cooperation with the City of Mikkeli and the Geological Survey of Finland as part of the RAINMAN project co-financed by the South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 programme. Results are presented in the picture. The report of the study is now available at the Hakku-site of GTK as an open file work report 61/2020.

Geologian tutkimuskeskus tutki pohjavesi-pintavesivuorovaikutusta Hanhikankaan pohjavesialueella Mikkelissä

RAINMAN hankkeen tiedote

Geologian tutkimuskeskus tutki Mikkelin Hanhikankaan vedenottamon veden koostumusta. Vedenottamon vedestä noin 45% on Hanhilammesta peräisin olevaa pintavettä.

Tulokset on esitetty kuvassa. Tutkimusraportti on ladattavissa GTK:n Hakku-palvelusta työraporttina 61/2020.
